Otaru Canal Cruise
Otaru Canal Cruise is a popular activity for visitors to Otaru - a great way to learn about the history of the canal and rediscover the romance of Otaru’s past.
The Otaru Canal Cruise is one of the most enjoyable ways to see the historic town, making it a great day out for Yu Kiroro guests. The boat trip lasts around 35 to 40 minutes and takes you along the historic canal, past the old stone warehouses and other buildings that date back to Otaru's days as a busy port. The captain talks you through the history as you go, so you come away knowing far more about the area than you would on foot.
Both day and night cruises are available. Day cruises pass the historic buildings and surrounding scenery. At night, the gas streetlights and lit buildings reflect on the water. Both routes include the North Canal, where many of the boats are moored and several historic buildings stand nearby.

Day cruises depart every half hour from 10:00 to 19:00, with night cruises at 19:30 and 20:00.
