Ski Life
Ski Life: How to Start
Step 1: Check-In at Kiroro Resort
Arrival: Once you arrive at Kiroro Resort, head to the main reception area located in the hotel. If you’re staying at Yu Kiroro, you can enjoy the convenience of direct access to the slopes and ski facilities.
Step 2: Head to the Mountain Centre
Getting There: Once you’re ready, make your way to the Mountain Center. It’s the central hub for all things skiing and snowboarding at Kiroro Resort. You can easily access it from the hotel, with signs directing you to the right place.
Information Desk: Stop by the information desk at the Mountain Center if you have any questions or need guidance on the day’s conditions. The staff can also help you with ski passes and any additional bookings you might want to make for lessons or tours.
Step 3: Gear Rental at the Rental Shop
Rental Shop: Inside the Mountain Center, you’ll find the Gear Rental Shop. This is where you’ll pick up all the equipment you need for a day on the slopes, from skis and snowboards to boots, helmets, and poles.
Selecting Your Gear: Provide your height, weight, and skill level to the staff, who will help you select the right equipment. They’ll ensure your boots fit comfortably and your skis or snowboard are the correct size for you.
Fitting and Adjustments: Once you have your gear, you’ll be fitted with your boots, and the staff will adjust your bindings to ensure they are set correctly. If it’s your first time, don’t hesitate to ask for help—they’re there to make sure you’re comfortable and ready to go.
Step 4: Head to the Slopes
Lift Pass: Before heading out, make sure you have your lift pass, which you can purchase while booking for your Yu Kiroro stay or at the Mountain Center or pre-book online. The pass allows you access to the lifts and gondolas that will take you up the mountain.
Getting to the Slopes: Once your gear is fitted and you have your lift pass, head to the gondola or chairlift area. Staff will assist you in getting on, and you’ll be whisked up the mountain to your starting point.
Beginner Areas: If you’re new to skiing or snowboarding, start at the beginner areas. Kiroro Resort has gentle slopes perfect for getting comfortable on your gear. There are also ski schools available if you want to take a lesson before hitting the main slopes.
Step 5: Enjoy Your Time on the Mountain
On the Slopes: Take your time on the slopes and enjoy the stunning scenery of Hokkaido. Kiroro is known for its powder snow, which is perfect for beginners because it’s soft and forgiving.
Breaks and Lunch: When you need a break, head back to the Mountain Center where you’ll find cozy cafés and restaurants offering a variety of local and international dishes. Warm up with a hot drink or enjoy a hearty meal to refuel for the afternoon.
Continue Exploring: As you gain confidence, explore more of the mountain. Kiroro offers a variety of runs suited to different skill levels, so you can challenge yourself at your own pace.
Step 6: Returning Your Gear
End of the Day: When you’re done skiing for the day, return to Yu Kiroro where a team of Ski Valet experts can accommodate your gear. If you are checking out you can return your gear to the Rental Shop at the Mountain Center. The staff will check everything back in, making the process quick and easy.
Relax and Unwind: After returning your gear, relax at the resort’s onsen (hot spring) or enjoy a drink at one of the bars. Reflect on your day on the slopes and start planning for the next one!
By following these steps, your first day at Kiroro Resort will be smooth, enjoyable, and full of fun on the snow. Whether you're a first-time skier or just new to the resort, this guide ensures you have everything you need for a memorable experience in Hokkaido’s winter wonderland.
